Zinio and Undercovermags put out their official “Site is Closed” notice today.
Q: Why is UCM closing?
A: Over the past two years, Zinio has expanded its focus from digital editions for desktop computers to a variety or readers and reading apps for desktops, laptops, smart phones, tablets and other devices. Our partnerships with Apple (iTunes), Google (Android Market), telecom companies, and devices manufacturers (Samsung, Acer, Sony and others) have made this possible, and yet these partners have strict guidelines preventing the sale and distribution of adult content. Zinio realizes that it will not be able to fulfill its vision of cross-platform distribution of adult content, and thus has decided to close UndercoverMags.
My concerns with all of this is what happens to all of our clients that purchased magazines? Well Zinio did create a FAQ ( http://imgs.zinio.com/faq/ucm.htm ) to better explain what we could all expect.
Over all I would have much rather kept my porn then get Zinio “credits” to purchase softcore magazines.
The unofficial word from Zinio is “Yes, unfortunately Undercovermags is gone. As the industry moves more towards tablets, Zinio felt that it wasn’t profitable to continue with Undercovermags because Apple, Android and other tablet manufacturers DO NOT allow adult content. They will not accept adult apps.”
So now StudEmags and Girlemags are left in a bad spot. We would like to continue to offer some of the best adult magazines possible but it looks like the digital vendor has stopped selling them.
We have been in contact with TopFloor to find out their feelings on Undercovermags.com closing…

We will continue to sell “Softcore” Gay and Straight magazines as long as Zinio continues to offer them. We are also considering how to become our own Digital News stand but that may be a ways off. Come back soon to get more information. This is a very sad day but business does change.
